Mom and dad can take turns in telling a story before the children go to sleep. There are several stories that they would surely love. Parents can download an app from the App Store or Google Play Store that features fun stories, or they can go old school and purchase a book. Some have more than one story in a book, and some may even have 100, but they are short stories.

Hansel and Gretel is a timeless story about two siblings. Their mom died, and their father remarried. While their dad had to work to bring food to the table, they were left with their stepmother. She wanted to get rid of them, so she made an evil plan to abandon them in the forest.

The stepmother went on with her plan, but Hansel was smart and dropped pebbles to serve as a mark of the way home. Their stepmother went on with the idea, and they got lost and finally found a house made of sweets. They then encountered a witch who wanted to eat Hansel, but they were able to escape and find their way back home.

Three Little Pigs is a story of three brothers who decided to build a house separately. The third pig wanted them to stay together because he believed that unity is their strength, but the other two disagreed. They wanted to live independently and prove they can.

The first pig chose to build his house out of straw, the second out of sticks, and the third out of bricks. A big bad wolf came and wanted to eat them. He was successful in blowing the first two houses down, but the pigs were able to escape and run to their brother’s house which was made of bricks. The wolf failed to blow it down as it was too stable, and the three little pigs all helped to block the door. They then realized that they are indestructible when they are together.

The Elves and the Shoemaker is an enchanting story about a man who was very poor and had only one leather to cut out and make a pair of shoes. He was able to cut it one night but left it on a table to finish the next morning. The shoemaker then prayed and went to bed. The following day, he was surprised to find an exquisitely made shoes on the table. A customer then came and was fascinated with the shoes and decided to pay more than what was required. The shoemaker then bought leather for two shoes and cut them out and left them on the table before bed. The next morning, he was again astonished by new pairs of fascinating shoes. It then went on and on until he became a wealthy man.

He and his wife got curious one night and decided to see who was responsible for their prosperity. They saw two naked elves happily working on the cutouts, so they decided to make them little clothes and shoes to show their gratitude. The following night just when the two elves were about to work, they could not find a cutout but found little clothes and shoes instead. They were very much delighted and jumped and danced with joy. They bounced out of the house and never came back, but it was all right because the shoemaker was already well-off, and it was all thanks to the two elves.

 

Parents should always find the time to greet their precious children with the warmest good morning and put them to bed at night with overflowing love. It is a great idea to make way for a perfect bond between parents and children, and a bedtime story is something that they will remember and treasure until they will have children of their own.
